Fox River & Countryside Fire Rescue District St. Charles Township, Illinois – January 29, 2021 The incident was upgraded to a Box Alarm for additional mutual aid help by Command Battalion 18 because of a combination of the extreme cold and the lack of fire hydrants in this unincorporated area. The crews made entry with an attack line to the second floor. A single line attack was able to extinguish the fire within fifteen minutes of the making entry. The fire caused extensive structural damage to the bedroom area on the second floor, and heavy smoke damage had occurred throughout the home. The residence was equipped with working with smoke detectors. Two cats were lost in the fire and no one was injured. In addition to the Fox River & Countryside units, mutual aid was received from South Elgin, Bartlett, Streamwood, Hanover Park, Elburn, Pingree Grove, Hampshire and Burlington Fire Departments along with the Hanover Township Emergency Services. The residents were assisted by the Salvation Army. For further information, please contact Fox River & Countryside Fire Rescue District at (630) 584-3473 |
